The other four masks of the set of The Five Dignitaries include the tiger, the “khyung,” a gargoyle bird, the horse, and the snow lion. The Nga Chham mask is made in Bhutan of Row Shing, a tree found only in the forests of Rolang, Trashigang. Blocks of wood are carefully hollowed out to create the mask. The entire process to make a mask takes eight days. Painting is done on the ninth day. An additional two to three days for masks with horns is required. Made in the Himalayan Kingdom of Bhutan.
