The Kālacakra tradition revolves around the concept of time (kāla) and cycles (chakra): from the cycles of the planets,[1] to the cycles of human breathing, it teaches the practice of working with the most subtle energies within one’s body on the path to enlightenment.
The Kalachakra symbol is composed of ten Tibetan letters stacked together and has the power to remove obstacles coming from ten different directions (the four cardinal directions, the four intermediate directions, and the above and the below). The symbol also makes liberation possible through seeing, hearing and touching as well as through its recitation.

The symbol is also used by His Holiness the XIVth Dalai Lama of Tibet in his prayer ceremonies calling for world peace.
