Om Mani Padme Hum is one of the most popularly said Tibetan mantras It has been used throughout the ages in wood carvings, weavings, stone work, and jewelry. The mantra is repeated in an endless repetition, each time wishing for the happiness and end of suffering for all living beings, animals, insects, and human beings alike. The mantra also reminds us of the inherent beauty and perfection that resides in all of us, and our ability to bring it to fruition if we work on its development. Like a lotus that blooms from a pond of muddy water, we too can emerge from our darkness of despair and ignorance.
Tibetan Prayer Wheels are inscribed on the outside with the mantra Om Mani Padme Hum, and filled on the inside with a scroll on which the same mantra has been written hundreds upon thousands of times. With one spin of the prayer wheel, multitudes of the mantras are activated and its positive energy flung out into the universe. Keeping a prayer wheel or a wall hanging in your meditation room or in your home is a beautiful way to remind yourself of your spiritual energy and your desire to spread it.
